About the charity Woking & Sam Beare Hospices aspire to a time when every person can approach death informed, supported and free of pain; a time when the needs of the individual and of those close to them are met with personalised care at the end of life. We are dedicated to providing specialised palliative and end-of-life care and support to those in our local communities. We currently serve a population of over 380,000 in the Boroughs of Woking, Surrey Heath, Guildford, Elmbridge, Spelthorne and Runnymede - roughly one third of Surrey’s 1,135,400 population We have now reached a point where our physical environment is holding back the care we want to provide. To grow and develop our service requires a new home for our care, a band new environment for our staff and patients to ensure we can offer everything we could hope for in a 21st century care setting. Over the next 12 months we will be converting an existing building in Goldsworth Park that will be a new home for Woking Hospice. All of our 20 in-patient beds will be located at this site, along with a new much expanded Day Hospice. Sam Beare Hospice will remain in its current home within Weybridge Community Hospital but will be converted into a state of the art Wellbeing Centre and will be the base for our ever expanding community nursing team. Only with the help of the community are we going to be able to build these two new state of the art homes that will help shape the future of hospice care in the heart of Surrey. Thank you. We organised the Surrey Hills Stomp with ISS in 2015 and have the following open challenges for 2017, why not join us and help raise funds for this worthy cause.
