Orpheus was founded in 1998 in Godstone, Surrey, by Sir Richard Stilgoe. It was set up as a residential care home, providing a small group of young disabled adults with ad hoc performing arts and life skills sessions.
Orpheus now provides supported housing and a diverse curriculum of performing arts, independence, functional and life skills to over 40 young disabled adults every year. They have 26 tenants currently living at Orpheus in supported housing and 39 students accessing the learning programme on a full- or part-time basis, with more students nationwide taking part in short courses.
