There is a reason the Five Peaks Challenge isn’t undertaken very often – it’s both physically and mentally exhausting, and attempting to complete it in 48 hours is close to impossible. Everything has to work in your favour and those involved have to pull together as a team. Thankfully, that’s exactly what happened with the Barclays/Tomorrow’s People team, with the support team from Advocate Events digging out blind to get the team from peak to peak as efficiently as possible and the 15 ‘Peakers’ themselves charging up and down the mountains as fast as they could, sticking together the whole way. Torrential rain on Snowdon, visibility of five feet on Scafell Pike, winds of 70mph on Ben Nevis, pitch darkness on Slieve Donard, sunburn and the Devil’s Ladder on Carrantuohill – nothing that was thrown at the team could stop them completing the challenge in 48 hours. And the satisfaction of completing the challenge was further enhanced by the knowledge that the team were doing their little bit to help Tomorrow’s People carry out the fantastic and vital work they do transforming lives and helping people on their journeys back into employment.
The Barclays team look set to raise over £30,000 toward our Mission: Employable campaign, aiming to reach 500,000 people by 2017. Help them get there and donate today!
