Please find below answers to some of the most frequently asked questions...please do not hesitate to contact joanna@advocateevents.co.uk should your question not be in the list below.

Will I be fit enough to undertake the challenge?
Anybody with a reasonable level of fitness and determination will be able to complete the event. Whilst a serious undertaking and not to be taken lightly, 98% of all participants complete with the right amount of training beforehand.
Do I need to see my doctor before I agree to the event?
If you have pre-existing injuries or medical conditions we strongly recommend that you visit your GP to ensure you are able to undertake the challenge.
Will I be able to raise the sponsorship amount?
Your event starts from the moment you sign up. Gaining the right amount of sponsorship is part of the challenge and not to be undertaken lightly. However, if you follow the fundraising guide which is available on request and forms part of the information pack sent out once you’ve registered to complete an event, you will be well on your way to smashing your target. We will be on hand to help and advise you.
Who do I pay the event fee to?
A Registration fee (non-refundable) of £75 is payable directly to Advocate Events with your registration document. If you are using one of our charity partners your fundraising must be paid directly to the charity. If you are choosing your own charity the event fee must come directly to Advocate Events.
Is it ethical for me to pay for my trip through sponsorship?
Good question! The answer is quite simply YES! By undertaking an event you are raising money for your chosen good cause that otherwise they may not have received! In addition you are promoting your chosen good cause both before during and after the event!
What if I fail to achieve the required sponsorship amount?
Follow our fundraising guide to the letter and YOU WILL SUCCEED. We are also on hand to help and advise you prior to the event. You must achieve the agreed sponsorship to participate in the event.
Who can I contact before the event with any queries?
Please email joanna@advocateevents.co.uk or martyn@advocateevents.co.uk or call Martyn on 07852 305445 and we will be delighted to answer any questions.
Will there be appropriate support throughout the event?
YES. Our Mountain Leaders are fully qualified, vastly experienced and great company. They are also trained first aiders. You will also have full support on the ground during the event. Advocate Events staff have organised and participated in many three peak challenges so rest assured you are in safe hands!
Will I be climbing or walking?
With the exception of a small section of Scafell Pike that you may have to use your hands as support in order to scramble up and down, all the routes you will undertake are on well-marked paths.
How long does it take to climb each mountain and peaks?
This depends very much on the speed of your group and other factors such as weather etc however last year it took climbers on average 5h20m to climb up and down Ben Nevis, 4h05m for Scafell Pike and 4 hours for Snowdon. The Yorkshire Three peaks average time is 10 hours.
How high are the mountains and peaks?
Ben Nevis is 1344m Scafell Pike 978m and Snowdon 1085m Pen-Y-Ghent 694m, Whernside 728m and Ingleborough 723m.
Are there toilet facilities on the mountains and peaks?
There are facilities at the base of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon and a cafe at the top of Snowdon (if open). There is a café and toilets at Horton Cafe Car Park in Horton in Ribblesdale. If you are caught short on the mountains and peaks our guides will discreetly show you where to go!
How far will I be travelling during the event?
From the moment we pick you up in Glasgow you will be travelling approximately 800 miles by road. Add in your flights or train journey and travel home and you will be travelling approximately 1500 miles during your challenge.
Is my transport to Scotland and home from Preston covered in the event fee.
Yes. You will be responsible for getting to the airport or train station on your first day and home from an agreed point at the end of your challenge. All transport from the first agreed pickup point, between the mountains and to the final drop off point is arranged for you. Advocate Event staff will be there to meet you at the agreed pickup point.
Do I need insurance?
Whilst we arrange the appropriate public liability and employer’s liability insurance we strongly advise all participants to take out their own insurance to cover them for personal possessions which can be arranged for around £10.

We also advise you take out adequate travel insurance should you become injured or unwell and have to cancel the trip after the cancelation period stated in your Terms and Conditions.

Your insurance should be in place when you register to participant so you are able to make a claim for the costs we have paid out on your behalf and take a place on a future event.

Due to the nature of this outdoor activity, participants should accept a certain element of risk. Our guides will do everything in their power to minimise the risks, where possible. In the interests of safety all participants must abide by any decisions made by the guides.

If you require further information please contact us.
Where can I find kit and training guides?
These are available on request and form part of the information pack sent out once you’ve registered to complete an event.
Can I take my dog on the challenge?
Unfortunately not...whilst we are dog lovers here at Advocate Events and are working on dog related events we have to consider all participants who may not wish to share a minibus with our canine friends!
Can I travel to Scotland in advance of the event?
Yes. We can make arrangements for you to travel to Scotland prior to the event either by air, train or on the London to Fort William sleeper train. Supplements will apply. Please contact us for details.
